Ability to Un approve an approved project

Introduce functionality allowing authorised users to revert an approved project back to an “Awaiting Approval” status when a project has been approved in error.

This would provide administrators and project managers with greater flexibility when managing project workflows and approvals, particularly in situations where:

• Approval was given accidentally

• Incorrect information was identified after approval

• Required documentation was missing

• Additional checks or amendments are needed before work proceeds

The functionality could be controlled through permissions to ensure only authorised users are able to reverse approvals.

Problem Statement

Currently, once a project has been approved, there is limited ability to revert the project back into a pending or awaiting approval state. If a project is approved incorrectly or prematurely, users may need to rely on manual workarounds or support intervention to correct the status.

This can create delays, confusion, and reduced control over project approval workflows.

Suggested Improvement

Add an “Unapprove Project” or “Revert to Awaiting Approval” option for authorised users, allowing approved projects to be moved back into the approval workflow when required.
